The top European guild, none of the above (NOTA), cleared Gnomeregan on February 9, 2024, 12 hours and 32 minutes after phase 2 was released. The renowned European guild ONSLAUGHT, securing the top three positions in the WCL leaderboard, came second with a 9-minute difference. Meanwhile, European Alliance guilds Fake Fresh and Resist secured third and fourth positions. The Horde seems to have an advantage in leveling and progression during Phase 2.
Both NOTA and ONSLAUGHT's raid compositions primarily consisted of cloth-wearing classes. Does this indicate a rise in magic-based classes in Phase 2? Not necessarily. The main reason is that cloth-wearing classes level up faster, and their class strength is not directly related to progression. NOTA guild leveled up from 25 to 40 in just over 9 hours.
As for the Gnomeregan raid, the first five bosses posed minimal numerical pressure. Understanding the boss mechanics made it easy to defeat them, similar to the first five bosses in the Blackfathom Deeps. Once familiar with the process, the bosses became sources of gear upgrades.
NOTA guild members delved into the raid without knowledge of Phase 2 new runes or boss strategies. They wiped only once on the first and fourth bosses.
Within 24 hours of Phase 2 opening, over 80 teams successfully cleared Gnomeregan. This indicates that the new 10-man raid is not significantly difficult. Players now have powerful skills and talents from levels 70 to 85, making them formidable in battles, regardless of the dungeon.
However, clearing Gnomeregan may be more challenging for casual teams than the Blackfathom Deeps. According to official announcements, the first cooldown reset for the Season of Discovery Gnomeregan is scheduled for Thursday, February 15. Since there are currently no detailed raid guides available online, it is recommended for fast-leveling players to gear up, collect runes, and then attempt the raid after reaching max level.
Based on analyzing the various class specializations that cleared Phase 2 raids, tanking classes such as Shaman (Enhancement), Protection Warriors, and Protection Paladins are recommended. Priests dominate the other specializations for healing. As for DPS classes, Shadow Priests, Warriors, Mages, Hunters, and Feral Druids are preferred. These class suggestions are based on the proportion of each specialization in the raid composition for reference purposes.
